Seasonal Construction Flagger/Road & Bridge

Job Summary:
Position requires a variety of duties to maintain traffic control at varied construction sites during the construction season. .

Duties Performed:
Primary duty is traffic control within the construction zones during the construction season. Safety of the employees who are repairing, maintaining or constructing roads or bridges is of primary concern. The safety of the general public as they travel through the construction zone is also of primary importance; Performs other related job duties as required.

Foreman and/or Road and Bridge Supervisor

Promoted to:
Transportation Technician I, Transportation Technician II and III, Foreman, Road and Bridge Supervisor

Machines, tools and equipment used:
Hand held radio, and some hand tools as required necessary to perform the assigned job.

Working Conditions:
Generally extreme dust, cold, heat, wet, wind, noise and hazardous driving conditions due to ice and poor visibility; Stress level may rise, as environmental conditions change to extremes; Position may require working weekends, or before and after normal working hours. .

Job Specifications:

Physical requirements:
Must have the ability to complete a full work shift of physical labor, while standing for extended periods of time, in often extreme weather conditions.

Educational requirements:
High school diploma or equal

Special skills:
Must have a valid current drivers license; certification as a Flagger from the Department of Transportation is desired.

Experience required:
General knowledge of road and bridge construction as it would relate to traffic patterns around and through the construction zone, allowing save passage for motorists and a safe work environment for fellow employees.

Training required after hiring:
Safety training as required.
