Mower Operator

Job Summary:
This position is a seasonal position lasting approximately four months, depending on growing season and budgeting. Operator will be mowing road shoulders throughout all of Washington County; position offers no benefits.

Duties Performed:
Mow county road rights-of-way; be responsible for general maintenance of mower and mower assembly; able to understand complex directions pertaining to job sites; reading of topographical maps; fill out daily paperwork required by supervisor; any other duties assigned, such as cleaning shop, washing/servicing vehicles.

Weed Department Supervisor and Lead Worker/Applicator.

Machines, tools and equipment used:
Works with mower-tractor/County vehicles; Cutting torch/welders, assorted air, hand and power tools.

Working Conditions:
Individual will be outdoors on a full-time basis. Must be able to tolerate dust, dirt and air borne pollen, as this is an open cab tractor. Must be a self-starter and be able to work with little or no supervision. Must be attentive to roadside debris to safeguard public, etc.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to tolerate variable weather conditions, especially heat, also chaff and dust. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Educational Requirements:
None

Special Skills:
Should have mechanical ability.  Must have a current valid drivers license.

Experience Required:
None

Training Required After Hiring:
Read MSDS sheets pertaining to chemicals which are stored/applied and sold at Weed Control. 

Additional Comments: 
Must be able to deal tactfully with public in controversial situations.
