Administrative Assistant, Economic Development

Job Summary:
Supports the Executive Director and Board of Directors in all clerical and
Secretarial functions required for effective implementation in carrying out a
Coordinated County wide Economic Development Program.

Duties Performed:
Assists the Executive Director with all day-to-day operations of the Commission; Schedules appointments for the Executive Director; Researches grant information and compiles data, develops reports and completes special projects; Drafts financial, statistical, narrative and other reports as requested; Assists in the coordination of activities for the Commission; Receives visitors and incoming telephone calls; Greets public with a friendly, positive attitude in person and on the telephone; Maintains organizational files and other records; Orders office supplies; Prepares claims and accounts payable statements; Maintains the office to present a neat and professional image; Completes other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director. Performs other related duties as required.

Minimal supervision. Must be able to work independently.

Telephone, photocopy machine, computer, fax machine and scanner.

Physical requirements:
Requires extended periods of time, sitting and/or standing. May be required to lift up to 30 lbs, such as files, cases of photocopy paper, etc


Educational requirements:
High school Diploma or equal

Special skills:
Must be professional and courteous at all times; Must be able to handle and prioritize many tasks simultaneously; Good typing skills; Effectively utilize time, showing self confidence, exhibit enthusiasm for work; Full knowledge of computer use; Experience preferred in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Dream-weaver, Internet. Web page design; Work well without direct supervision and must be familiar with general office procedures. Must have a valid drivers license.

Experience required:
At least one year of clerical experience required.

Training after hire:
Training programs that apply to position or enhance job performance are available upon approval and some may be required.
