Obtaining a passport
To Obtain a Passport You Will Need:

2 identical passport photos. These must have been taken in the
last 6 months & have a light background. Photos can either be
black & white or colored. Do not wear light colored clothing for your photos. -
STATE CERTIFIED COPY OF YOUR BIRTH CERTIFICATE. This must have a raised, State Seal on it. Hospital Certificates & Birth Abstracts are not acceptable. If you are a Naturalized Citizen you must present us with your Original Naturalization Papers.
All original documents that are sent with your application are returned to you in a different envelope .

We have to identify ALL APPLICANTS & you must present your CURRENT Drivers License or some other form of secondary identification. Everyone needs to come in in-person. This includes children.

A check made out to Washington County for all the fees that apply.

To obtain a certified copy of your birth certificate call directly to the state agency were the the birth occurred. See the list of States Vital Recordes Offices.
Applications must be filled out by the applicant unless it is a small child.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
If I send my original Birth Certificate along with my Passport Application, is it returned?
Yes. In a seperate envelope.
Is a hospital Birth Certificate acceptable?
No. Only a State-issued Certified Copy or original Birth Certificate is accepted.
Does your office do renewals?
Washington County does supply renewal applications; however, we do not process them.
Can I sign my application before I bring it in?
No. The application must be signed in the presence of an authorized passport clerk.
