Job Summary:
The office of County Assessor is primarily responsible for determining values for real and personal property for the purpose of taxation. In addition the County Assessor's office acts as a local agent of the Idaho Transportation Department, Idaho State tax Commission, and the Idaho State Department of Parks and Recreation. The off acts as a primary facilitator between entities and the public to implement programs and, provide public education, and generally serves the public in all related matters as requested by law.
The County Assessor's office deals heavily wit the public at large and its duties are best accomplished by working with the public in an informed and pleasant manner. THis is accomplished is a small office atmosphere and the ability to work closely with other employees in a cooperative helpful manner is essential.
Duties Performed:
- Physically inspect and inventory parcels, within Washington County, according to Idaho Code, Idaho State Tax Commission Rules and Regulations and accepted appraisal standards
- Photograph, measure, and sketch buildings on parcel, enter data into computer assisted mass appraisal program
- Determine land classes
- Collect and analyze crop price and production expenses
- Analyze statistical reports to establish land values
- Read, understand and plot legal descriptions on arieal maps
- Use computer software available for statistical reports
- Asssist the public property and value questions
